Welcome in. Two steps and you are set up.

I built this site so you can learn to read a chart for yourself, at your own pace. Both steps are free. No card, nothing to cancel.

Make your free account

Your account gives you two things:

  • The Edge Engine, the chart analyzer. Upload a chart screenshot and it marks the structure, the key levels and the liquidity, and explains why each one matters. Free accounts get 3 chart reads, and the sample read below costs nothing.
  • Your place in the free Edge Academy. All 8 modules and 39 lessons are free to read. With an account you also get the quizzes and the placement test, and your progress is saved.

Link your Discord

If you are in the DigitalEdgeLab Discord, link it to your site account. It takes one click, and we only read your Discord username.

Linking gives you the site member role. Site members can post their Edge Engine reads in #chart-review, and I answer some of them every week.

If you are a paying member, linking is also how your Trading Student role gets applied.

Make your account first, then come back here to link.

No chart screenshot handy? Here is a sample on an NQ chart, so you know what the Edge Engine gives you before you use a read.

Sample readIllustrative exampleNQ, 5 minute (drawn)
12345

Illustrative example. A drawn chart, not real market data, with no prices on purpose. It shows how a read is laid out, not a trade and not a result.

Structure

Price was making lower highs and lower lows into the prior day low, with one small bounce on the way that left the last swing high. It traded below that low, then closed back above it. A large up candle followed, and the next candle closed above the last swing high. That move left a fair value gap behind it.

What each mark means

  1. 1Prior day low (PDL). The lowest price of the previous regular session. Stop orders tend to sit just below a level like this, so price often trades through it and reacts there.
  2. 2Liquidity sweep. Price trades past a level where stops sit, then closes back on the other side. It shows orders were taken. On its own it says nothing about what comes next.
  3. 3Displacement. A large, fast candle with a small wick. It shows one side pushed hard and fast.
  4. 4Change of character (CHoCH). After a run of lower highs, the first close above the last swing high, the most recent high with lower highs on both sides. It is the first sign the structure may be changing, not proof that it has.
  5. 5Fair value gap (FVG). A three candle pattern where the wicks of the first and third candles do not overlap. It marks a price range the market moved through too fast to trade both ways.

What a read is for

On your own chart, the Edge Engine marks levels like these and explains why each one matters, so you learn to spot them yourself. It does not tell you what price will do next, and neither does this sample.

Looking at this sample does not use one of your free analyses.
